Brick Lane - Monica Ali
Posted On 11/14/2007 17:01:25 by Aloo_Bazi

The book written by Monica Ali titled Brick Lane  has now been turned into a feature film which will be releasing on the 16th November 2007 across cinemas in the UK

The story is basically about a young bangali girl trapped in a loveless arranged marriage to a much older man.

She comes to the UK and lives in the famous Bangladeshi people area of East London known genericly as "Brick Lane"

The story in parts is controversial and the book got considerable media exposure when first released.

The local bangali community protested against the author and the book at the time, that the book portrayed bangali community and their lifestyles in a negative view.

I'm planning on watching the film sometime when its released so I would be interested to see any comments from people who watch it on the forum.

do you know if any of the film was shot in Sylhet town?

Isn't the author half sylheti (fathers side) and half white (mothers side)?
